Welcome to the Overtur Restricted Product Resource Center! This article is used to explain the differences between setting a Restricted Product Authorization (RPA) to be one time use only or to have an expiration date. This option allows more flexibility for customers to decide which option suits their needs best. By the end of this article, you will be able to:
- Define the difference between a one time use RPA and an RPA with an expiration date
- Add an expiration date while generating an RPA
- Identify whether an existing RPA has an expiration date or is one time use only
Historically, each authorization was a one-time-use only requiring every order for restricted products to be accompanied by a newly generated authorization from the end user. Now, there is an option to select a period of time during which an authorization can be used repeatedly. The intent for this change is to allow customers to define their authorization needs to fit their desired level of key control. Please expand each section below to learn more about the options available when creating an authorization as well as the options available to modify an existing authorization.
How to create an RPA for one time use only
- Select the
button in the top-right corner of the page. The Create Authorization form will come up on the screen.
- Ensure the "One time use" option is selected on the form. This option is selected by default.
- Fill out all other details as desired, then click the "Create Authorization" button. General information about creating authorizations may be found in this article:
How to create an RPA with an expiration date
- Select the
button in the top-right corner of the page. The Create Authorization form will come up on the screen.
- Ensure the "Set expiration date" option is selected on the form. This option is not selected by default; if you do not select it, the RPA will be generated for one time use only.
- Enter the desired expiration date. The RPA that is generated will be valid for multiple uses until the expiration date that is selected.
- Fill out all other details as desired, then click the "Create Authorization" button. General information about creating authorizations may be found in this article:
How to add or modify an expiration date from an RPA that was already generated
- From the main account page, select the "Authorizations" tab to view a list of RPA documents that have already been generated.
- Make the desired changes in the "Authorization Expiration" column on the page. This could include toggling an RPA from being "One time use" to selecting an expiration date and allowing that RPA to be used multiple times, extending an existing expiration date, or changing an expiration date to a day in the past to prevent an RPA from being used any further.
That covers the basic differences between an RPA that is generated for one time use only or to have an expiration date allowing for the potential of multiple uses up until the set date. Keep these options in mind when generating or editing RPAs to help manage the security of your account and orders for Restricted Products.
